Counseling Assistance Program
A diagnosis of breast cancer is frightening, and it often brings up a wide range of difficult emotions. You may feel anxious, depressed, angry or fearful. Women sometimes struggle with self-image, challenges with intimacy and personal issues. All of these stresses may impact your immune system, digestion, sleep, concentration and personal relationships. The support of a mental health professional may help you cope with the psychological impact of cancer and may be an important aspect of treatment. BCSS also recognizes that those who have breast cancer may be concerned about the well-being of their loved ones.
Who is eligible?
Any individual who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, is in active treatment or in post-treatment and/or their family members/caregivers. The counseling sessions are designed to encompass not only the patient, but those who love him or her.
We are currently limiting funding to individuals living in Berks County.
