My name is Denise Strohmayr, and I am an Associate Professor in the Foundational Studies Division at Reading Area Community College. I have been teaching and supporting students in multiple higher education environments for over 20 years. I hold a B.A. in Speech Communication and an M.A. in Organizational Management. I was recently awarded the prestigious 2020 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Recognition from the American Association of Community Colleges.
I am currently on the board of trustees for the 21st Century Cyber Charter School, Berks Technical Institute advisory board, Delta Zeta Sorority member and volunteer. I previously served as a board member for the Literary Council of Reading-Berks, and West Chester University family relations board.
I live in Sinking Spring with my husband, and I’m the proud mom of two young adults.
Sadly, most everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer. I heard many great things about BCSS and was particularly interested in volunteering for an organization that specifically serves Berks County. Every dollar raised stays in our community! I am inspired by the way BCSS board members, staff and volunteers come together to serve our mission of providing hope, information and emotional support to every person affected by breast cancer. Their efforts are evident in the many stories of hope and encouragement shared.
Fun Facts:
- My hidden talent is…twirling batons! I first started twirling at age 3.
- The trend I hope makes a comeback is… I hope leopard print stays in style forever. I’ve been wearing it for over 30 years, even when it was not in style!
