Erin Vida - Board Member

My name is Erin Vida RN, BSN, OCN and I am excited and honored to be part of the BCSS board. I am an oncology certified registered nurse with 23 years of nursing experience and am currently employed as the nurse manager of the Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center. I have lived in Berks County my entire life and I am excited to serve on the board of BCSS to combine my oncology knowledge and resources with my commitment to the local community. I am “just a kid from Reading” and I look forward to working with other community minded board members and volunteers to provide hope, information, and emotional support to every person affected by breast cancer in Berks County.

I was born and raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. I then began my nursing education, obtaining my associate degree in nursing from Alvernia University followed by my bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kutztown University. I am currently enrolled at Alvernia University for a master’s degree in nursing leadership and healthcare administration. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have been inducted into Alvernia University’s chapters of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing as well as Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society. I was recently awarded the Oncology Nursing Foundation ONCC Emerging Leader Scholarship which afforded me the opportunity to attend Sigma’s Biennial Convention in Indianapolis, IN.

I currently live in Wernersville with my husband Tom, as well as our 2 daughters, Laurel and Emily. We love to go on family vacations together and search out new places to visit. During the pandemic, we added 4 cats to our family which brings us to a grand total of 2 dogs and 5 cats!!!

Fun Facts:
  • My hidden talent is…my ability to write backwards in cursive with my right hand (I’m left handed)!
  • The chore I hate the most is ALL of them!
